As He Did Aforetime
Daniel 4–6
“He kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.”
Daniel 6:10 KJV
TODAY’S DEVOTION
Daniel did not invent an emergency spirituality when prayer became dangerous. He continued the life he had already practiced. The decree changed, the risk increased, and the window remained open toward Jerusalem. His steady habit revealed a settled allegiance.
Crisis does not create our deepest formation so much as expose it. Daily Scripture and prayer may feel ordinary, but ordinary faithfulness prepares us to stand when obedience becomes costly. Make your altar dependable before you need it desperately. God is worthy in calm days and lions’ dens alike.

צְלָא · ṣelāʾ · H6739
Ṣelāʾ means to pray or make petition. Daniel prayed and gave thanks before God as he had done before, showing a settled life of worship rather than a reaction created by the crisis.
Daniel 4–6 contrasts proud rulers and collapsing kingdoms with Daniel’s consistent service, prayer, and trust in the Most High God.
