When the Spirit Brings Life
Ezekiel 37–39
“And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.”
Ezekiel 37:14 KJV
TODAY’S DEVOTION
The valley held no hidden human potential. The bones were many and very dry. God deliberately brought Ezekiel to a place where restoration could not be credited to optimism, organization, or effort. The Word was spoken, the breath came, and what was dead stood alive by God’s power.
The vision first promises national restoration to Israel, yet it also reveals a truth seen throughout Scripture: life comes from God’s Spirit. No heart is revived by religious appearance alone. We need the living work of the Holy Ghost. Speak the Word faithfully, pray in dependence, and refuse to pronounce final death over what God has not finished. He can restore hope, unite what was scattered, and make living witnesses stand where despair once ruled.

חָיָה · ḥāyâ · H2421
Ḥāyâ means to live, remain alive, or be revived. In the vision, life is the direct result of God’s Spirit entering what could not restore itself.
Ezekiel identifies the dry bones as the whole house of Israel in exile, whose hope had perished. The vision promises restoration, reunification, and renewed covenant life under God’s rule.
