The Shepherd Who Comes Looking
Ezekiel 34–36
“For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out.”
Ezekiel 34:11 KJV
TODAY’S DEVOTION
Israel’s shepherds had fed themselves while the sheep scattered. God answered their failure with a promise: “I, even I” will search and seek. His care is not distant administration. He notices the wounded, the displaced, the vulnerable, and the forgotten, and He moves toward them.
Jesus fulfills the Shepherd hope with perfect compassion and authority. If you feel scattered, you are not beyond His notice. Call on Him and receive the care He gives through His Word, His Spirit, and His church. If you lead, let His pattern examine you. Spiritual leadership does not consume people to build itself; it feeds, protects, seeks, binds up, and serves.

Context for careful reading.
דָּרַשׁ · dāraš · H1875
Dāraš means to seek, search for, or inquire with care. In Ezekiel 34:11, God declares that He Himself will search for His sheep. The word emphasizes purposeful attention and active pursuit rather than distant awareness.
Ezekiel 34 condemns self-serving shepherds, promises God’s personal intervention, and anticipates one Davidic shepherd over the flock. The passage grounds both comfort and pastoral accountability.
